FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Marine Industries Association of South Florida raised $12,000 for student scholarships for McFatter Technical Center’s Marine Technology Program at the 11th Annual MIASF Golf Tournament, the association said in a recent release.

The $12,000 will provide financial assistance to McFatter Technical Center students studying marine electronics, boat and yacht repair/refinishing, marine service technology and applied welding technology.

“The MIASF and McFatter are close partners and the annual golf tournament is another example of how we’re supporting education programs geared to improving our marine industry workforce,” said Frank Herhold, MIASF executive director. “Our support for McFatter is part of a strategic plan to raise visibility of the marine industry and its many diverse careers. Our goal is to expose students to marine industry careers and the boating lifestyles of South Florida.”
