CCP to increase resin, gel coat prices

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The price for all Cook Composites and Polymers’ resin and gel coat products will increase by $0.06 per pound as of Oct. 15, the company said in a release today.

The increased cost of domestic raw materials and decreases in allocation of specific key materials were factors in CCP’s decision, according to company Vice President Paul Colonna.

CCP said that it, like other producers of unsaturated polyester products, is forced to import higher cost materials to support customer needs.

“The effects of weather problems in the southeastern United States on maleic production and its availability have added to an already difficult situation,” Colonna said. “That, combined with announced increases for October on maleic, phthalic, all glycols, and titanium dioxide, leave us no choice but to pass on these increased costs.”
