ATLANTA – The first three events of the eight-stop 2004 Boating World Test Drive series have been completed, and the results point to more than $1 million in sales spurred by prospective boaters and families new to boating, according to a press release from event organizers yesterday.
“The sales generated at the first three events have surpassed expectations,” said Boating World publisher Steve Rosenberg. “The key to growing boating is getting people out on the water. The test drives provide a unique opportunity for families to experience the thrill of boating, and the results speak for themselves.”
Through the first three test-drive events, several hundred boaters have hit the water and felt the excitement of being behind the wheel of a boat.
The inaugural test drive took place Aug. 7-8 at the Fox River Preserve & Marina outside Chicago, while the second was held Aug. 21-22 at the Griggs Reservoir Marina in Columbus, Ohio. The third event was held Aug. 28-29 at Big Cedar Lodge on Table Rock Lake in Branson, Mo.
The fourth stop will take place this weekend (Sept. 11-12) at McKinley Marina in Milwaukee.
The majority of Test Drive attendees have been invited as a result of having visited one of the recent stops of the NMMA’s Discover Boating & Fishing Tour presented by Water Works Wonders. After making their way through the interactive displays, speaking with the Discover Boating staff, and completing a detailed questionnaire, qualified attendees receive a special invitation to the Test Drive event nearest their home.
The Test Drive series has several more stops through the remainder of the year, including events in Minneapolis, Dallas, Gulf Shores, Ala., and St. Petersburg, Fla.
