Duncan McIntosh acquires The Log

IRVINE, Calif. – California’s oldest and largest boating newspaper, The Log, has been acquired by the Duncan McIntosh Co., producer of the Newport Boat Show and the Lido Yacht Expo, the company said in a recent release.

The newspaper’s editorial writers and sales staff will remain with the publication at its current offices in San Diego, according to Duncan McIntosh, Jr., president and CEO.

The Log is one of California’s most popular boating and fishing newspapers,” McIntosh said. “We intend to carry on the heritage begun by Louis Gerlinger, one of the paper’s most influential owners, by continuing to meet the needs of its readers with the best local boating and fishing news available.”

Founded in 1971 as The San Diego Log, the current publication produces three editions – San Diego, LA-Orange County and Northern California – 26 times per year, plus it publishes a special fishing section called The Fishrap. The paper also has a Web site and an e-mail newsletter that it produces every two weeks.

The Duncan McIntosh Co. also publishes Sea and Go Boating magazines from its Irvine, Calif. offices.

Details of the transaction were not disclosed.
