Change in the air at Salt Water Sportsman
NEW YORK – David DiBenedetto has been appointed as the new editor of Salt Water Sportsman magazine, a move that coincides with the relocation of the magazine’s editorial offices from Boston to New York City, according to a recent company press release.
Salt Water Sportsman is relocating to the New York headquarters of its owner Time4 Media, a move that will be complete this December. The changes herald a significant investment in Salt Water Sportsman by the company, and a series of editorial and design improvements to the magazine are also planned for 2005, the company said.
“These moves are the first steps toward improving what is already the single best magazine for salt water fishermen in the marketplace,” said John Young, president and group publisher of Time4 Media’s Marine Group. “David’s dedication to the sport and talent as an editor, combined with the magazine’s proximity to its sales and marketing teams, will allow Salt Water Sportsman to fully benefit from the resources at Time4 Media’s New York office.”
Young also said that Sid Evans, editor-in-chief of Field & Stream, has also been named to the newly created position of editorial director of Salt Water Sportsman. Evans retains his title as editor at Field & Stream. He will work with DiBenedetto and his team to create a more visually dynamic, resonant and relevant magazine for both readers and advertisers, the company said.
DiBenedetto was deputy editor of Field & Stream magazine prior to his recent appointment. He succeeds Barry Gibson.
