MIASF spearheading hurricane relief efforts
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Marine Industries Association of South Florida is organizing a relief effort for marine industry related businesses that were affected by Hurricane Charlie, MIASF said in a release this morning.
“We are looking to our association members and members of the community to help donate the supplies, funds and manpower necessary to help get these companies back on their feet,” the association said.
Ken Stead, executive director of the Southwest Florida Marine Industries Association sent a list of items that are needed by marine businesses that have been hardest hit, including:
Donated supplies can be dropped off beginning on Aug. 20 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. to MIASF Membership Development coordinator Helen Wozunk at Billfish Marina, located at 2955 State Rd. 84 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Show Management, producer of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, is contributing trucks and drivers to move the supplies to the affected areas. Financial donations are also welcome and checks should be made payable to “MIASF/Hurricane Relief Fund.”
