TowBoatU.S. opens ninth Lake Michigan port

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – BoatU.S., which offers an on-the-water towing service for recreational boaters, has expanded its TowBoatU.S. operations on Lake Michigan with the addition of TowBoatU.S. Muskegon, Mich. to its fleet, the company said in a recent release.

Located on the Muskegon Channel adjacent to the U.S. Coast Guard Station Muskegon, the port is owned by Capt. Gregory Hibbard, a Muskegon native who recently returned to Michigan after working in Florida for 20 years. The new location is the ninth TowBoatU.S. port on Lake Michigan and the 36th TowBoatU.S. port servicing the Great Lakes.

TowBoatU.S. Muskegon will operate three towboats in the Muskegon and Grand Haven areas of Lake Michigan’s central eastern shore: a 20-foot Shamrock inboard, a 22-foot Enterprise outboard and a 30-foot diesel Aleggra.

“Most of the on-the-water towing services we provide are due to engine trouble, which sometimes leads to boats washing up on the beach,” said Capt. Hibbard. “We can be there in minutes.”
