Boating magazine receives Outdoor Writers Association awards
NEW YORK – Boating magazine received two awards from the Outdoor Writers Association of America’s (OWAA) Excellence in Craft Writing
Contest this year, it reported in a statement yesterday.
The awarded articles each received third place honors: “Making It Reel” (June 2003 issue) by Senior Technical Editor Lenny Rudow in the Technical Category; and, “Transit Authority (Seamanship),” by Senior Technical Editor Lenny Rudow (April 2003 issue) in the Boating Category.
This contest, focusing on boating and paddle sports and sponsored by the Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation, was open to all members of the OWAA and received 2,500 entries of articles published in 2003. Fifteen categories were judged and three prizes were awarded within each category. Categories included a magazine category, a TV category, a photo category, a newspaper category, and a radio category. Winners were announced at an awards banquet in Spokane, Wash. on June 20, and are listed in the July issue of the organization’s monthly publication, Outdoors Unlimited.
