ABYC to offer two fall certification courses
EDGEWATER, Md. – The American Boat & Yacht Council will conduct both an entry-level electrical class and advanced electrical certification course for marine workforce professionals this September, the school said in a press release yesterday.
ABYC’s “Electrical Certification” course will be held Sept. 13-16 in Chicago. Students who attend must be very familiar with ABYC electrical standards. The curriculum covers topics such as electrical theory, generator sets, lead-acid batteries, grounding and bonding systems, inverters, using a multi-meter, battery testing, trouble-shooting and more. A 200-question certification test will be administered on the last day. The education fee for this seminar is $735 for ABYC members and $895 for non-members, ABYC said.
The “Electrical Systems in Boats” course will be held on Sept. 21-22, at the Sofitel San Francisco Bay in Redwood City, Calif. It is designed to increase the overall knowledge base of emerging marine professionals in AC and DC marine electrical systems. Class emphasis is on ABYC standards, as well as circuit diagrams and panelboards. National Association of Marine Surveyors and Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors can earn 14 industry education credit hours. The education fee for this seminar is $349 for members and $509 for non-members.
