BoatU.S. magazine wins Apex Award

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – BoatU.S. Magazine, the official publication of Boat Owners Association of the U.S., recently won an Apex Award in the category, “Covers,” the association reported recently.

Now in its sixteenth year, the Apex Awards are based on excellence in graphic design, editorial content and the ability to achieve overall communications excellence. Nearly 5,500 entries were received by the judges, according to the association.

“We’re all very proud of the fact that our covers do not rely on scantily clad women or men with gold chains to depict the boating lifestyle,” said BoatU.S. Magazine founding editor, Michael Sciulla, who has directed the association’s flagship publication since 1980. “Even more importantly, our covers are not used as an advertising lure. Our editorial and graphics team strives to create an esthetically interesting cover that will engage the reader. We are grateful for this recognition, especially given the level of the competition.”
