Cabo Yachts may add 100 jobs
ADELANTO, Calif. — With rising sales, more international marketing and new model introductions coming soon, Cabo Yachts is looking to expand its staff and its manufacturing plant, according to a recent story in the Victorville Daily Press.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if we hire 75 to 100 (new employees) by the end of the calendar year,” said Mike Howarth, Cabo vice president, in the story. “We’ve hired 50 so far this year.”
Cabo Yachts has introduced three new models over the past 24 months and plans to introduce three more over the next 24 months. New models require more workers and more space, Cabo’s general sales manager Greg Bourque told the newspaper.
The company is on schedule to build 140 boats this year, and so far sales have been up 28 percent over last year’s sales, which were up 18 percent over 2002. Increased business in California and around the world accounts for much of the rise, Bourque told the Daily Press.
The company’s exports doubled in 2002, and have also accounted for 10 to 12 percent of overall sales in 2003 and 2004, according to the story.
