OAK PARK, Ill. – The Grow Boating initiative has recently formed a fourth task force – called Dealer Standards and Quality – and has appointed Larry Russo of Russo’s Marine, in Medford, Mass., as its chairman, the Marine Retailers Association of America said today in a press release.
The establishment of the new task force is intended to explore opportunities that will assist marine retailers in optimizing the impact of consumer interest and activity resulting from the Grow Boating initiative, according to the release.
MRAA said it will be represented on the task force by Tom Johnson of Reed’s Marine in Delavan, Wis., and Jeff Scherer of MarineMax in Clearwater, Fla. Representatives of two boat manufacturers and three engine manufacturers will also be appointed.
Based on input from the Grow Boating Leadership Summit, the task force will be asked to develop a process to create a measurable matrix of best dealer practices that could be used to create a standard of measures for retail dealers. The task force was also charged with creating a Consumer Bill of Rights and a set of Consumer Responsibilities. These documents will highlight the value to the consumer of doing business with industry certified dealers, MRAA said.
