ABYC conducts certification course in Australia

EDGEWATER, Md. – The American Boat & Yacht Council recently conducted an Electrical Certification course at Riviera Marine on Queensland’s Gold Coast of Australia, as part of its Convenience Learning Program, ABYC said in a release this morning.

Ed Sherman, ABYC’s senior instructor, covered topics such as Electrical Theory, Lead-Acid Batteries, Using a Multi-meter, Battery Testing, Generator Sets, Inverters, Grounding and Bonding Systems, and Troubleshooting as part of the course. On the final day, students were able to take a 200-question certification test, ABYC said.

“ABYC conducts on-site training both nationally and internationally – reaching the Australian marine industry demonstrates that interest in ABYC standards and standards-based training and education goes far beyond the borders of the United States,” said Bonnie Barsa, ABYC education director. “Riviera Marine originally contacted ABYC to ensure they had qualified, trained tradesmen available to fill positions within their company. We are able to coordinate dates and times outside of our planned yearly education calendar for organizations with training needs.”
