New power-boat sales climb 3 percent in 2003

CHICAGO – The power-boat market (which includes sterndrives, outboards, inboards, jetdrives and PWC) increased three percent in 2003 to nearly $9.7 billion, according to the National Marine Manufacturers Association’s first annual Recreational Boating Statistical Abstract, NMMA reported yesterday.

The report, which will be mailed to all NMMA members in the coming weeks, compiles and organizes data collected by NMMA into the most comprehensive package of market facts and figures ever presented on the recreational boating industry and includes analysis of industry activity by sector, annual units and dollar sales, NMMA said.

One complimentary copy of the NMMA Recreational Boating Statistical Abstract will be mailed to each NMMA member. Additional copies will be available to purchase. For more information, contact NMMA Statistics director Jim Petru at (312) 946-6202; jpetru@nmma.org.
