NMMA introduces supply chain standards
CHICAGO, – The Mutual Efficiency Forum (MEF) Aftermarket Task Force has introduced a training poster and hired a supply chain standards consultant to help accessory manufacturers who want to improve their supply chains, the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) reported in a press release today.
The supply chain standards poster details the requirements for packaging, labeling and shipping products to customers as described in a Supply Chain Standards manual launched last October for marine industry suppliers and buyers to help in their sales and purchasing transactions, NMMA said.
The consultant was hired by the group to provide accessory manufacturers with a resource to assist them in implementing the standards described in the manual.
The MEF Aftermarket Task Force, established by NMMA’s Accessory Manufacturer Division (AMD), is comprised of accessory manufacturers, distributors and retailers. The SCS manual, which was introduced at IBEX 2003, contains a set of recommended guidelines for invoicing, shipping, packing, labeling, returns, and Proposition 65.
The poster was recently mailed to all NMMA AMD members and will be distributed to members of the National Marine Distributors Association as well, according to NMMA.
“The task force surveyed accessory manufacturers prior to re-launching the standards described in the manual to determine the top five errors that most impacted their supply chain” said Jason Pajonk, president of Taylor Made Products and chairman of the task force. “Through this data we were able to narrow our focus and develop a plan for helping companies improve their supply chain management.”
