NMMA awarded grant for Discover Boating DVD
CHICAGO – The OMC Foundation, Inc. has awarded the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) $70,000 to produce a Discover Boating DVD that will be available to consumers starting in March, an OMC statement said recently.
Discover Boating director Steve Tadd received notification of the award from the OMC Foundation in early February. The money will pay for the production and promotion of the video, which, among other topics, will provide tips and instruction on safe boating, the release said.
“The OMC Foundation board of directors congratulated us on our efforts to not only promote boating and get people excited about the boating lifestyle, but to promote boating safety,” Tadd said. “We have included a complimentary boater’s education course and provided practical tips in our videos that will encourage safe boating.”
The interactive Discover Boating DVD includes a two-minute video on the boating lifestyle to get people excited about boating, a 12-minute video that will help users pick the boat that’s right for their lifestyle; and a “Let’s Get Started” video that serves as a call to action to the DVD user to take the next steps to purchasing a boat, which include:
— Going to a boat show
— Visiting local dealers to request a test drive
— Enrolling in a boater’s education course
