NMEA sets dates/agenda for 2000 Working Group Meeting

SEVERNA PARK, Md. – The National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA) said Monday that it will hold a two-day NMEA 2000 Working Group meeting on Monday, Feb. 16 and Tuesday, Feb. 17 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Sheraton Four Points Hotel in Miami Beach, Fla.

Agenda items are to include: NMEA 2000 certification process and evaluation; review of current status for isolated ground and outboard motors; low-cost options for connectors; and review status of next release of NMEA 2000 Version 1.100.

“NMEA 2000 activity has recently become very intense because many electronics and engine manufacturers have begun implementing this protocol into their new products,” NMEA standards committee chairman Larry Anderson said. “This meeting is going to be particularly important because several manufacturers have issues requiring help from our committee. Furthermore, as new manufacturers come online with NMEA 2000 they ask our committee for additional capabilities in the standard that we are pleased to help with.”
