Gaffrig wins trademark infringement lawsuit
ELK GROVE VILLAGE, Ill. – Boating accessories manufacturer Gaffrig Performance has won a trademark infringement lawsuit against Livorsi Marine, a marine instrument manufacturer, the company reported in a statement today.
The courts have awarded Gaffrig Performance exclusive rights to the Gaffrig name, according to the company.
Over the years consumers have become increasingly confused about who the “real” Gaffrig manufacturer is, Gaffrig Performance reported. Therefore, in December 1999, it filed a trademark infringement lawsuit. Now, four years later, the verdict has come in.
On December 19, Hon. William J. Hibbler of the US District Court, Northern District of Illinois, stated, “Gaffrig Performance’s request for an injunction against Livorsi Marine’s use of any trademark or tradename incorporating the word Gaffrig, or the use of such a mark on, or in connection with the sale of, any marine products is granted.”
Livorsi Marine Inc. did not respond to a call for comment in time for this report.
