C-Map voted Best Electronic Charts 2003 by NMEA
ITALY – Italy-based C-Map Group took home the National Marine Electronics Association’s (NMEA) award for Best Vector Charts for the fifth straight year, the company reported in a statement Saturday.
C-Map’s popular electronic charts won this award in 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002, as well as in 1994 and 1995, making for a total of seven awards in eight years. Ken Cirillo, vice president and general manger for C-Map/USA, received the company’s latest award at the recent NMEA convention.
Each year, winners in various categories are voted on by a cross section of the marine electronics industry, including dealers, manufacturers’ reps and certified marine electronics technicians.
C-Map vector-based charts provide accurate electronic charting for a variety of applications, including sailing, bluewater sportfishing, commercial fishing, even inland cruising. The electronic chart standard gives boaters key advantages, including customized charting modes, color palette selections and commercial-grade capabilities like C-Map’s Guardian Technology anti-grounding feature and C-Forecast, the company reported.
In addition, C-Map updates electronic charts and detailed Ports & Tides databases twice annually, giving boaters the most current information available, according to the company.
