Marine bankers postpone annual workshop
CHICAGO — Citing current economic conditions, the National Marine Bankers Association (NMBA) will postpone its 2008 Annual Marine Lending Workshop, originally scheduled for December 7-9 at the Embassy Suites in Fort Lauderdale, until the first week of December 2009, it reported in a statement this morning. The 2009 event will be held in the same location and venue.
“This postponement not only gives the industry additional time to recover from prevailing economic uncertainty, but also puts marine lenders and service providers in a better position to send their employees to this ‘can’t-miss’ educational and networking event,” said James A. Coburn, NMBA president.
NMBA’s Marine Lending Workshop is aimed at improving the skills of those involved in the marine lending industry on a daily basis, as well as introducing the specialized nature of lending, marketing, and collection techniques to individuals new to the industry, according to the association. Participants typically include banks, service companies, maritime law firms, recovery agencies, insurance companies, and yacht dealerships. Course modules cover topics such as marketing, insurance, registration and lien perfection, credit analysis, collateral evaluation, collection, repossession and collateral remarketing.
