Century Boat Co. doubles boat shipments

PANAMA CITY, Fla. – Coming off its 80th year in business, Century Boat Co., Inc. is poised for even greater success through the remainder of 2006 and into 2007, said Dean Burnett, the company’s vice president/general manager, in a recent statement.

“Century is on a new course for 2007, and we are on a journey to position our company as a demand brand,” said Burnett. “We conducted a thorough audit of our business procedures, including manufacturing, marketing, product offering, staffing, dealer network and customer service, and though we are up 18 percent in retail sales, we still see room for improvement.”

Burnett said that the company has doubled the number of boats it has shipped during 2006 verses the same time period in 2005. There are also more models in the Century line-up than ever before, with 19 scheduled for 2007.

Century has also increased its customer service activities, making personal phone calls to each new Century owner in an effort to help improve and strengthen the sales process. Century’s engineering department obtained owner input, conducted internal testing and reviewed CSI and warranty data leading to approximately 400 feature improvements since January 2006, the company reported.
