Home Port Marine Marketing launches venture fund

LAS VEGAS — Home Port Marine Marketing announced the launch of MarineAngels, a unique venture fund to provide seed capital, expertise and advice to help launch new marine products, on the eve of this week’s Marine Aftermarket Accessories Trade Show.

Home Port Marine Marketing will act as the central point of contact for entrepreneurs to provide easy access to all the resources needed to successfully bring viable marine products to market. The company used the array of new products introduced at MAATS to promote the new fund.

“The largest-ever MAATS that is about to get underway is proof that new products drive the market,” said Home Port President Jim Georgiadis, who headed the merchandising division for retailer BoatU.S. for 15 years. “But without proper funding and market know-how, many good marine product ideas never get into the market, or are such weak sellers they are soon gone from the shelves. Members of MarineAngels will be experienced and well-connected industry professionals, some of our best minds in product development, distribution, marketing and merchandising.”

MarineAngels members are expected to meet for dinner or breakfast several times a year, usually at major industry trade shows to hear presentations by invited entrepreneurs. Organizers expect that, after these meetings, members will vote on whether or not to make investments.
