Edson sets another sales record

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. – For the fourth time in as many months, marine steering system manufacturer Edson International has broken its all-time monthly sales record the company said in a press release Friday.

Sales of Edson products in July 2004 saw an increase of 45 percent over July 2003 and marked the highest monthly sales ever recorded in the company’s 145-year history. In addition, the seven-month period of January through July 2004 saw a sales increase of nearly 20 percent over the same period a year ago, putting 2004 on course to be become the best year ever in the company’s history.

“To say that 2004 has been a great year for Edson would be an understatement,” said Will Keene, Edson president. “Earlier this spring we believed this would be a really strong year for Edson and the marine industry as a whole. This season has been one of the most vibrant I can remember. Our OEM customers are building boats, our retail customers are upgrading their systems and adding new accessories, and our dealers are playing a crucial role in keeping stocking levels up to meet demand.

Sales are up across the board for all Edson divisions, including Edson Europe, OEM, Retail, Mass Merchant, Industrial Pump, Marina Pumpout and the new Quality Welding, Inc. acquisition, Edson said.
