Washington parts manufacturer has best first quarter ever

KENT, Wash. – Morse Industries, Inc., a supplier of rub rail, stainless-steel fittings, hardware, tubing and trims, finished the quarter with sales 15 percent ahead of last year, while March sales were up 18 percent compared to the same period in 2003, the company said in a statement last week.

“Marine manufacturer’s are optimistic about sales this year and early signs indicate an economic pickup,” said Steve Klein, director of Marine Business Development for the privately held company. “As a supplier of boat-building components, we feel the anticipation of economic recovery on our bottom line.”

With the anticipation of this continued increase, Morse has increased expenditures on inventory and has added personnel in its customer support department, Klein said in the statement.

“We realize our strong growth necessitates more resources,” said Klein.
