Boater’s World reports same store sales increase

BELTSVILLE, Md. – Boater’s World Marine Centers’ comparable store sales for November 2003 increased 14 percent from
November 2002, the retailer reported in a statement today. These figures represent all stores open for at least one year.

November’s weather was cold and rainy in various parts of the country making boating tough for many people, according to Boater’s World. In addition, with many boating enthusiasts visiting the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show at the beginning of the month, there was even less time for people to be out on the water.

“We are extremely pleased with our November sales figures,” said David Ritz, chairman and CEO. “Despite much of November’s poor weather many of our customers continued to use their boats.”

Ritz attributed the increase in part to customers beginning winterization in some areas while other vessel owners are making trips south down the east coast for the winter.

Boater’s World Marine Centers, headquartered in Beltsville, Md., is a U.S. marine retail chain with over 110 locations. Boater’s World specializes in fishing tackle, marine electronics, watersports gear and cruising equipment for recreational boaters. Boater’s World is a division of Ritz Camera Centers, a photo-specialty retail chain.
