Boat America names new CIO

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Boat America Corporation, which provides consumer services for the Boat Owners Association of The United States (BoatU.S.), recently named Tom King as its new senior vice president and chief information officer. King has also been named to the corporation’s board of directors, the company said in a statement.

King has been with Boat America since 1984, when he started as a programmer. He has directed the company’s information technology department since 2005. According to the company, during his tenure King has led the development of Boat America’s most critical IT projects and strategic planning of data resources.

“Tom King has proven himself as a customer-focused Information Technology leader,” BoatU.S. CEO Bill Oakerson said in a statement. “He has built a great team, is an effective communicator with staff and has the ability to successfully manage a range of diverse projects to completion. His analysis, judgment and decision-making capabilities will serve the company well as our newest member of our board of directors.”

BoatU.S. provides its members with a wide array of services through Boat America Corporation, including a group-rate marine insurance, towing assistance vessels, discounts on fuel, slips, and repairs, and boat financing.
