NORFOLK, Va. – Rhodes Communications, a public relations and marketing communication company serving national and international clients, has made several key promotions in an effort to upgrade and expand its client services, the company said in a statement Tuesday.

Mary Swetits has taken on new responsibility as the company’s director of business development. She also continues to provide client services as an account executive. Swetits has been with Rhodes Communications in positions of increasing responsibility since 1999.

Jina Gaines has been promoted to account executive. She will take on increased responsibility for client services on key accounts. Gaines joined the company in 2005.

Steve Yeatts has been appointed to the newly created position of account services manager. He will be responsible for smooth workflow and quality control for all client projects. He is also national sales manager for the company’s Marine NewsWire subsidiary. Yeatts has been with the company since December 2006.

Cheryl Chase has been named business manager. She has been with Rhodes Communications more than six years, and was formerly the company’s office manager. As the business manager, Chase has assumed new responsibilities for bookkeeping, IT, human resources and other business management functions and will take on greater oversight of company operations.

“We are creating an in-house organization that will support our goal of continued rapid growth over the next few years,” said Jim Rhodes, president. “These key appointments reflect our company policy of promoting from within whenever possible.”
