Scout Boats restructures, hires two
Summerville, SC – Scout Boats, Inc. has hired two managers and restructured its two main boatbuilding plants due to increased demand and expansive growth, according to the company.
Calvin Young has been named Plant B lamination manager, while Robert Gens has been appointed production manager of the popular Abaco Series.
“Retooling our manufacturing capabilities will give us two separate focuses, one for smaller models and one for larger models,” said Scout Vice President of Operations Dave Wallace. “This new restructuring allows us to maintain product schedules and quality standards our customers and dealers have come to expect from Scout. And our company continues to recruit solid, experienced people as new positions are created.”
With the restructuring, Scout’s Plant A Operation will produce models under 22’, along with the entire Bay Scout line. Plant B Operation will manufacture models 22’ and up, including the company’s largest model to date, the 350 Abaco Series. The 350 is slated for debut Spring 2007.
Young, who brings with him over 27 years of experience from Formula Boats, will manage the quality and use of composite materials by the production staff. Gens, who holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Clemson University, will oversee all production aspects of the Abaco Series. He brings over six years of production management experience to Scout from his tenure at Tyco Healthcare.
