Video: Flexboat plans to grow boating with inflatables

I just got back from the Honda Marine press event. You can read more about that in my article here.

Along with a chance to give the engines the once-over, the media gathered there also had an opportunity to talk to several of the company’s boat-builder partners.

I spent a lot of time talking to the folks at A.I. Boats and hearing about the Flexboat product that owners Rob and Jenny Creemers are offering.

A.I. Boats, based in St. Petersburg, Florida, recently became the exclusive distributor of Flexboat RIBs in the United States.

The Creemers initially started out selling the boats as a dealer and servicing other RIBs, but soon became such a believer in the Flexboat product that he wanted to build the business.

The boats are currently available direct from A.I. Boats, but Creemers is looking to build a dealer network to sell the boats across the country. I tried out the 12-foot SR-12 SLX with a 40-hp Honda engine myself and was surprised by its speed and maneuverability, not to mention its sturdiness.

What sets the Flexboat apart, Creemers said, is that most inflatables are “disposable” – built to last only a few years, while the Flexboat is built of higher-grade material.

The boats are available in sizes from 6-foot, 7 inches to 25-feet. With a low price point for the smaller models, Creemers said he believes the boats will be a great way to get more people into boating. Creemers thinks there’s a real opportunity in getting the boats into rental fleets as a complement to PWCs as well.

You can hear more from Creemers by clicking on the video below.
