Discover Boating advancing Hispanic marketing efforts

As you’ve often seen me write about here and in the pages of the magazine, I think bringing more minorities into boating needs to be one of the top priorities for our industry … and others have been saying that for years as well.

So it’s great to see one of the important parts of that effort come to fruition this week as Discover Boating releases its latest “Stories of Discovery” video, featuring the Vazquez family an Hispanic family that enjoys fishing and boating. The family shares its experiences in a new video from Discover Boating, available in both English and Spanish.

Produced in cooperation with the Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation, the video is another important step in the efforts being made by the industry to become more diverse. Along with the large multi-year outreach effort RBFF has undertake, these are the types of things the industry needs to do. It’s simple, but true: people want to see themselves represented in the marketing. They want to buy from people like themselves.
