Social Media Video Tip: How to use hashtags in your social media

Over the last couple of weeks, you’ve most likely noticed hashtags in your Facebook News Feed. That’s because in mid-June, Facebook officially flipped the switch and brought hashtags to life. Now hashtags are nothing new, as a matter of fact, hashtags got their start organically by Twitter users as a way to categorize messages.

What is a hashtag?

A hashtag is the “#” symbol followed by a relevant keyword or a group of keywords without any spaces or symbols (hashtag example; #boating or #letsgoboating). Hashtags are used to categorize content into groups and hold public conversations or monitor public conversations. Every tweet, post or picture shared while using the same hashtag will all be grouped together as one conversation.
