Info-Link: Powerboat sales grew almost 4.5 percent in December

Boat sales grew by almost 4.5 percent in December, according to the most recent Info-Link Bellwether report.

The Bellwether report tracks sales of powerboats across the country based on new U.S. boat registrations on a rolling 12-month basis.

Bellwether states are geographically dispersed states representing roughly half of the U.S. boat market (varies by market segment and time of year).

Boat sales increased slightly in December when compared to November, when sale grew by slightly more than 4 percent.

Overall, the growth rate has been mostly declining since its peak of 11 percent in 2016.

Tow boats, outboards, and personal watercraft led the way again in December to end the year.

Tow boats increased by almost 7 percent, outboards nearly 5 percent and personal watercraft by 5 percent.

Sportfish boat sales increased almost 1 percent, down from November sales. The sterndrive/jet segment was the only category to decline, with sales down slightly more than 4 percent from the previous year.
