1. Southeast U.S. Boat Show canceled

The Southeast U.S. Boat Show, scheduled for this weekend in Jacksonville, Fla., has been canceled, News4Jax reported.

Move-in for the show was scheduled to begin Monday at Jacksonville’s Metropolitan Park, but when show organizers arrived, they found they were locked out, show owner Jimmy Hill told the station. He said the city cited a scheduling conflict, saying that a local rock festival was given extra days to set up for a show the following weekend.

The city said there was no contract for the 2017 show and that show organizers owed money from last year and didn’t settle the debt until January, by which time the “Welcome to Rockville” music festival had already reserved the park.

They settled the debt in January, but by then the organizers for Welcome to Rockville, which is set for the following weekend, had already reserved the venue to set up.

The company’s Oshkosh, Wis., facility and Fresno, Calif., distribution center won the 2016 awards. Brunswick also recognized 22 other facilities with safety awards.

Larson announced last fall that it would be leaving Minnesota after more than 100 years in Little Falls to move all of its production to its Pulaski, Wis., factory.

The move leaves 140 people out of work, according to the state of Minnesota. Wabash plans to hire 70 people over the next two years.

4. Connecticut looks to cut boat tax

Connecticut lawmakers are considering cutting the sales tax on boats, WTNH reports.

Proponents say the cut is necessary for the state to remain competitive with surrounding states, like Rhode Island, that do not have any tax.

The bill would cut the sales and use tax from 6.35 percent to 3.175 percent.
