Nominations open for 2018 STEP Ahead Awards
Nominations for the 2018 Science, Technology, Engineering and Production Ahead Awards are now being accepted. The STEP Ahead Awards honor women on a national platform — from the factory floor to the C-suite — who have demonstrated excellence and leadership in manufacturing.
This national honor identifies the best of the best women in the manufacturing industry, and further encourages women to mentor and support the next generation of female talent to pursue manufacturing careers.
Last year’s winners within the marine industry included: Kris Carroll, president, Grady-White Boats, Inc.; Jan Morton, vice president of supply chain for Brunswick Boat Group; Katelyn Vara, project engineer of Mercury Marine; and Marcea Weiss, plant operation manager of Mercury Marine.
Past marine industry winners include Marcia Kull, Lori Melbostad, Ann Baldree and Joan Maxwell.
“Women in the marine industry continue to make waves and are being recognized on their significant impact, leadership and success,” the National Marine Manufacturers Association said in a statement.
STEP Ahead draws public attention to manufacturing’s present-day reality, attracts more women into the industry, and encourages job seekers to develop the skills they need to qualify for a long-term career in this growing sector of the economy. Nominations will close Sept. 29.
