IBBI announces 2017 supplier award winners

Independent Boat Builders Incorporated recently gathered all of its members and suppliers together in St. Louis, Missouri for the annual Purchasing Meeting and Vendor Expo conference. As part of the event, several suppliers were recognized.

Spradling International Marine, a Michigan-based manufacturer of vinyl products, was honored with the John “Walkabout” Sisson IBBI Innovation Award for its new TC-06 Textile Range Clip from Fastmount. An extension of the male/female clip system, the TEXTILE RANGE female clip is stitched to the upholstery while the male is screwed onto the fiberglass, wood or metal deck molding. The two parts lock together with a push and a click. This variation of the Fastmount Clip System is designed for the rapid replacement and removal of exterior cushions. The clip set locks seat backs, bases, sunbeds and other soft-backed upholstery into place.

“We are happy to present this award to Spradling International Marine for their Textile Range Clip entry,” said IBBI President Tom Broy.” Our members voted amongst several great products during our meeting, and this product is a great representation of the innovative thinking we look for to honor John Sisson. John ‘Walkabout’ Sisson served on the IBBI Board of Directors and on the Technical Committee and was always looking for ways to bring innovation to the IBBI members.”

IBBI also honored top-rated suppliers during meeting. The award winners were chosen on the basis of a survey that IBBI members completed that rated suppliers in five key categories: product quality, delivery, technical service, customer service/warranty claims/returns and accurate invoicing.

Composites One was awarded the overall IBBI Supplier of the Year distinction.

Thank you for your confidence in Composites One in recognizing us as the IBBI Supplier of the Year at the recent IBBI Conference,” said David Scott, national accounts manager of Composites One. “Our teams will continue to work hard to create real value for each IBBI member.”

Lenco Marine and RDI were also given Supplier of the Year honors. Outstanding Partner Awards were presented to suppliers that narrowly missed out on the top awards – SeaStar Solutions, Inland Plywood and Marine Fasteners.

“One of the largest keys to our group’s success is partnering with the industry’s top suppliers. Our supplier base continually exceeds our expectations for the service level and commitment for our members,” said Broy. “Our award winners and their teams work very hard to support to our members. They appreciate the IBBI mission and are fully committed to making our contracts successful. It is an honor to be able to recognize their dedication with these awards.”

IBBI is celebrating 28 years in business this year and was founded by a group of independent, recreational boat builders to negotiate with suppliers on their behalf. Today, IBBI is the largest group of boatbuilders, with 19 members in multiple locations.
