New Wilmington Boat Show coming in September

JBM & Associates, a 16 year-old boat show management company, and producers of the new Wilmington Boat Show said Wednesday that the inaugural show is bigger than they expected when they started planning it nearly three years ago.

“We have wanted to bring a quality boat show to Wilmington for more than 10 years and it’s finally almost here,” said JBM President Jacqui Bomar.

The show will be September 9-11, at the Port City Marina, Pier 33, Wilmington Convention Center and Battleship Park.

“I could not be prouder of the show my team and I have created. The Wilmington Boat Show has morphed into a major show for the boating industry and promises to deliver a first-class experience for the Wilmington/Wrightsville Beach market,” she added.

JBM & Associates has been producing the Charleston Boat Show for the past 15 years, Savannah Boat Show for 14 years and the Charleston In-Water Boat Show for three years. They waited more than 10 years for the time to be right to launch the Wilmington Boat Show.

“Starting a show of this magnitude is a huge undertaking, but we are ready for it, and have had the support of industry leaders as well as local corporate and civic leaders. From the very beginning of our planning process we have had the support of visionary leaders including Tom Barber, ILM board chairman. This board, under Tom’s leadership, supported our vision and understands that over the next several years this show could have a major impact on the market,” added Bomar.

The Wilmington Boat Show will feature more than 80 different boat brands including skiffs, cruisers, sailboats, fishing boats and yachts. The show will feature a demo dock for people to try before they buy. More than 100 vendors will be set up along the riverwalk and in the convention center. Fishing and sailing seminars will be held for adults and children, along with other types of educational sessions. There will be live entertainment, food and family activities throughout the three day event.

The Wilmington Boat Show is presented by ILM and sponsored by Allstate Insurance Company, Yamaha Motor Corporation, Gulfstream Yachts, Maritime Insurance International, Gregory Poole CAT, Epic Finance, Marathon Specialty Finance and Wilmington Water Tours.
