Brig Boats introduces 650 Eagle

Brig Boats, a manufacturer of rigid-hull inflatable boats, announced that its 650 Eagle is now available in the United States. Brig’s classic Eagle series includes six models from 11 to 26 feet.

Formally introduced to the U.S. market at the Miami International Boat Show this past February, the 650 Eagle is a family cruiser with a deep-V hull. It can seat eight and carry up to 13, with forward and rear storage for gear.

Each hard tube end features two molded-in, anti-skid steps for boarding in the shallows, with an available folding swim ladder for easy boarding in deep water. Other available options include a freshwater shower, bow sundeck with cushions, ski mast and Bimini top.

The company asserts this cruiser is more stable, lightweight and low-maintenance than a hard-sided counterpart. Boaters are protected against sinking due to the tubes’ buoyancy and durability; if a tube does get punctured in an accident, the multiple-chambered boat will remain seaworthy.

“A boat doesn’t get more family-friendly than this,” said Neil Webster, chief executive officer for Brig USA and co-owner of award-winning Australia-based distributor Sirocco Marine. “The stability provided by the main buoyancy tube allows you to do things you can’t with a hard-sided boat. The main tube also serves as a ride-softening shock absorber, and the entire boat acts as one big fender.”

Acknowledging that RIBs are powerful, utilitarian workhorses, Webster encouraged boaters to look beyond tender service.

“They’re so much more than that,” he said. “They’re so versatile. They’re easy to beach, carry plenty of gear and are a comfortable, stable platform for on-water recreation, whether you’re snorkeling, diving, wakeboarding or simply cruising to the perfect spot for a summer picnic.”

Founded by aeronautical engineer Slava Rodionov nearly 25 years ago, Brig Boats now sells its RIBs in more than 60 countries through a distributor network. Over the years, the Kharkov, Ukraine-based company has listened to customer feedback and incorporated design elements and amenities into its model lineup.

In addition to the Eagle Series, Brig Boats also offers the Navigator Series, designed to go anywhere in a broad range of sea and weather conditions, and the Falcon Series.

This year, with its official entry into the U.S. market, Brig Boats has opened two founding dealerships — Sirocco Marine Fort Lauderdale and Sirocco Marine Annapolis — that are essentially Brig USA franchisees. For information about the founding dealerships, visit www.siroccomarine.com.

Great Lakes boaters can view and demo Brig models at Islander Marine Sales in Lakeside Marblehead, Ohio, on the southern shores of Lake Erie. For details, call 419-341-9131.
