IBBI announces Supplier Award winners

The Independent Boat Builders Incorporated (IBBI) recently awarded its suppliers during the annual Purchasing Meeting and Vendor Expo conference in St. Louis.

Power Products LLC and Marinco-Ancor, a Milwaukee-based manufacturer of wire and wire management products was honored with the John “Walkabout” Sisson IBBI Innovation award for their new self cutting cable ties. Self-cutting cable ties are designed to be installed by tightening the cable tie and twisting the tail. The integrated stainless steel blade leaves a clean, flush cut, eliminating sharp edges and loose tail ends.

“Ancor’s Self-Cutting Cable Ties are a true breakthrough in wire management,”says Power Products LLC and Marinco-Ancor Product Manager Matt Elsner. “By reducing installation time and eliminating the risk of damaging cables with the use of cutting tools, these ties simplify wiring projects, even in confined spaces.”

Made from durable nylon 6/6 material with an integrated 304 stainless steel blade, these cable ties are the perfect solution for all indoor or outdoor applications. The 50 lb. tensile strength exceeds industry standard across the 8 inches, 11 inches and 14 inches range of available products.

“We are happy to present this award to Power Products LLC and Marinco-Ancor for their Self-Cutting Cable Tie entry,” IBBI President Tom Broy says. “Our members voted amongst several great products during our meeting, and this product is a great representation of the innovative thinking we look for to honor John Sisson. John ‘Walkabout’ Sisson served on the IBBI Board of Directors and on the Technical Committee and was always looking for ways to bring innovation to the IBBI members.”

IBBI also honored top-rated suppliers during meeting. The award winners were chosen on the basis of a survey that IBBI members completed that rated suppliers in key categories: product quality, delivery, technical service, customer service/warranty claims/returns, and accurate invoicing.

Lenco Marine was awarded the overall IBBI Supplier of the Year distinction.

“This award means a lot to the Lenco family and we take much pride in knowing that the top boat builders in the world collectively selected Lenco to receive this award,” says Richard DeVito, president of Lenco Marine, Inc. “All of our departments work together as a team and really do deserve credit for this award. Without our customer service, warranty and returns, quality product manufacturing, timely delivery, accurate invoicing and technical service we would not have been able to achieve this for one year, let alone four years straight.

“The IBBI is the largest marine purchasing cooperative in the world and we are among a group of extraordinary peer suppliers which makes this the highest honor in the industry. So again, I want to thank the entire Lenco team for consistently meeting and exceeding the expectations of our customers,” he added.

Composites One and Ashland were also given Supplier of the Year honors. Outstanding Partner Awards were presented to suppliers that narrowly missed out on the top awards like Piedmont Plastics, Vectorply, and RDI.

“One of the largest keys to our group’s success is partnering with the industry’s top suppliers. Our supplier base continually exceeds our expectations for the service level and commitment for our members,” says Broy. “Our award winners and their teams work very hard to support to our members. They appreciate the IBBI mission and are fully committed to making our contracts successful. It is an honor to be able to recognize their dedication with these awards.”

IBBI is celebrating 27 years in business this year, and was founded by a group of independent, recreational boat builders to negotiate with suppliers on their behalf. Today, IBBI is the largest group of boat builders, with 20 members in multiple locations.
