Mid-America Boat Show opens January 14

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The 2016 Mid-America Boat Show will run Jan. 14-18 in Cleveland’s I-X Center. More than 42,000 marine enthusiasts are expected to attend. The Mid-America Boat Show, sponsored by Progressive Insurance and produced by the Lake Erie Marine Trades Association.

“At no time in recent memory has the Progressive Mid-America Boat Show offered boaters more than it will this year when it docks in the I-X Center,” said Ken Alvey, show manager and president of the Lake Erie Marine Trades Association. “This is Ohio’s largest winter boat show and will feature more than 400 boats surrounded by events and activities certain to keep show goers engaged and entertained.”

According to Alvey, the floor space has been expanded by nearly 20 percent to meet increased needs of dealers planning to display additional new models.

“The increased space reflects the continued recover of boat sales in our market area,” said Alvey, “It’s also the result of manufacturers investing in many exciting new models and that should drive continued growth.”

More than 400 power and sailboats will be on display, ranging from 48-foot cruisers to inflatable kayaks, as well as a myriad of new designs that major boat builders are unveiling for 2016. Representatives from marine manufacturers and area dealerships, as well as top Great Lakes fishing experts and product vendors, will be at the show to help answer questions and provide information on the latest watercraft, accessories and angling.

In addition, family features and activities have also been increased this year. These include: the DEMA Scuba Diving Pool; an expanded Fish School with 14 tournament champions on stage; a College of Nautical Knowledge boasting a record 38 seminars from cruising to cooking; PWC Simulator; live musical entertainment; Capt. Willie Pirate Show; Water Rollerz Pool for kids; “on-the-water” Kayak Simulators; hands-on Nature Tracks Adventure; among others features.

Show Hours: Thursday & Friday, noon to 9 p.m.; Saturday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Monday (Martin Luther King, Jr. Day), 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Admission: $13 for adults, $11 for seniors age 60 and older. Children 12 and younger are admitted free.
