Boat dealer same-store sales drop in December

Boat dealers closed out 2015 on a negative note, with same-store sales dropping for the first time in 10 months in December.

Same-store sales were down 2.0 percent from December 2014, according to the latest report from CDK Global Recreation, which is based on data from users of the company’s Lightspeed software. It was the first time year-over-year sales have dropped since January.

Service department revenue was the only category to grow for the month, with Lightspeed users posting a 14.3 percent increase for the month. It was the 11th month in a row of service revenue growth.

Unit sales were down 3.9 percent from December 2014, dropping for the second month in a row.

Parts and accessories sales were down 5.0 percent for December, declining for the sixth straight month.
