Ron Frisosky, June 13th 1941 – August 4th 2014
With great sadness we regret to announce the passing of our friend and colleague Ron Frisosky. Ron passed away peacefully at his home in Sarasota, Florida, in the company of his beloved wife of 47 years, Margo, his daughter, Jamie, her husband, Mark Lotz, and the two granddaughters of whom Ron was so proud.
Ron was born in Lansing Michigan on June 13, 1941. He attended Saint Mary’s Academy and later Michigan State University. After serving in the National Guard,
Ron became a partner in a chain of sporting goods stores specializing in bicycles andskis and, as an experiment, the then new Hobie Cat catamarans. This exposure to Hobie ignited Ron’s life-long passion for sailing and soon Ron and Margo were regulars on the Michigan Hobie racing circuit.
Ron and Margo relocated to Sarasota in the early eighties and Ron pursued his interest in the marine industry by becoming a sales rep for Spindrift-Starwind and other marine related companies.
In 1994 Ron found his true calling as a sales rep for Catalina Yachts. Ron quickly became a valuable, indispensable member of the Catalina organization and a mentor, advocate for and friend to all Catalina dealers. Ron was a tireless supporter of the dealer network and was known and respected for his enthusiasm, work ethic and “hands on approach” especially at boat shows. Ron also represented Gill clothing and Road King Trailers, earning his reputation as one of the hardest working people in the industry.
When not working Ron enjoyed golf and Tampa Bay Rays games, but he especially enjoyed racing aboard his buddy’s Capri 22 out of the Sarasota Sailing Squadron, where he was an active member and frequent and able regatta volunteer.
Ron was loved by many and respected by all who knew him.
Bon Voyage to our friend Ron Frisosky.
