NMMA South Carolina and ABYC join forces on certification courses

The American Boat & Yacht Council and the National Marine Manufacturers Association South Carolina have joined forces to present ABYC certification courses in Charleston, South Carolina. The first course will be the ABYC Marine Electrical Certification on September 9 – 12. The SC Department of Natural Resources will host the class at their Marine Resources & Research Institute classroom.

This is a great opportunity for our South Carolina members to send their staff to ABYC certification courses,” explained Suzi DuRant, NMMA SC’s Executive Director. “In the past, companies have incurred added expense by having to send their employees out of state.”

“We hope to offer the Marine Diesel Certification course in November and more are in the planning stages. Also, NMMA SC members will receive a special discount on the registration fee.”

The course is intended for those with a minimum of three to five years practical experience in the field of marine electrical design, service or installation. ABYC will send applicants the study material in advance of the course.

“We are excited about holding our courses in Charleston,” Sandy Brown, ABYC’s Education/Membership Customer Service Manager, said. “Besides the offer of the course closer to home, who doesn’t like to come to Charleston? We already have interest in sending students from the SC DNR and the Charleston Fire Department’s Marine Division.”
