Mercury Marine lends its support to KeepAmericaFishing Day

FOND DU LAC, Wis. – Mercury Marine is encouraging everyone to drop a line in the water on Saturday June 7, 2014 in honor of KeepAmericaFishing™ Day. The event coincides with National Fishing & Boating Week and encourages anglers of all ages and levels to go fishing and share their experience in support of recreational fishing.

“This is the inaugural year for KeepAmericaFishing Day and it’s an exciting new venture for KeepAmericaFishing,” said American Sportfishing Association Vice President Gordon Robertson. “Anglers everywhere should come to www.KeepAmericaFishing.org/fishing-day and share their fishing experiences anytime during National Fishing and Boating Week but especially on KeepAmericaFishing™ Day to stand united behind one of America’s favorite pastimes – fishing.”

The goal of the event is to set a world record for the most people fishing on one day while showing off the global appeal of fishing.

“Keep America Fishing does a great job of promoting the sport and making it accessible to everyone,” said Mercury Marine Director of Public Relations Lee Gordon. “We want to encourage everyone to go fishing on Saturday and break the record—then share your experience with your friends and family and encourage them to take part as well.”

KeepAmericaFishing™ is the American Sportfishing Association’s angler advocacy campaign. KeepAmericaFishing gives America’s 60 million anglers a voice in policy decisions that affect their ability to sustainably fish on our nation’s waterways.
