Front Street Shipyard selects PierVantage for new operation

NEWPORT, R.I. — In January, Front Street Shipyard announced its exclusive partnership with Newport, RI-based Trefoil Marine to begin construction on a new line of 30-foot multihull, high-performance catamaran patrol boats.

To support the new semi-production boat building operation, Front Street Shipyard recently leased a 15,000-square-foot building in Bucksport, Maine, just miles from the shipyard in Belfast, Maine.

Since opening its doors three years ago, Front Street Shipyard has relied on PierVantage to help them manage and grow their service business.

“As we expanded into production boat building, PierVantage for Boat Builders was the clear choice in management software,” said JB Turner, president of Front Street Shipyard. “It appears to be the only solution on the market specifically designed for this niche. Not only does PierVantage for Boat Builders help us track every stage of the build process, but it also helps us estimate and acquire materials on time, significantly minimizing our inventory carrying costs.”

Just as the team members at the new Front Street Shipyard production arm are eager and proud to begin building the new patrol boats for Trefoil Marine, the PierVantage Team is equally excited to see the features and capabilities that were developed for boat builders be put to use.

“Front Street Shipyard is on the forefront of innovation in the shipyard business and we are thrilled to have them as a long-standing customer and now supporting their production boat building operation,” said Navroze Eduljee, founder and CEO of CorVant, creator of PierVantage. “Having Front Street Shipyard implement PierVantage into its new operation is further validation of the tremendous value that our solution has already been delivering to them for years,” said Eduljee.”

Front Street Shipyard is part of a growing list of major marine firms who have made the obvious choice and subscribed to PierVantage. They include boat builders and premier service yards such as Derecktor Shipyards, Lyman Morse Boat Building Company, Gunboat, Marshall Marine, Zimmerman Marine, Pacific Fishermen Shipyard and Electric, Wayfarer Marine and Schooner Creek Boatworks to name just a few.

The PierVantage team plans to take the product to the next level by strengthening its project management functionality by adding powerful graphical project and resource management capabilities. “The enhanced Project Management functionality that our team is currently working on will be an extremely powerful tool for both Boatyards and Boat Builders,” said Mike Frayler, Director of Operations for CorVant. “As a part of our Summer 2014 Major Release, we are working closely with our current customers to ensure that it meets their needs and many of them have volunteered to be part of the beta roll-out,” said Frayler.
