IBEX conference offers first waterfront demonstrations

BROOKLIN, Maine — For the first time dock space for On-The-Water Exhibits and Demonstrations will be featured at The International BoatBuilders’ Exhibition and Conference (IBEX) taking place September 29 – October 2, 2014 at the Tampa Convention Center. Several companies have already booked their dock space including Elco Motor Yachts, Honda, JL Audio, JL Marine Systems, Mercury Marine, Nauticus, SeaStar Solutions, Simrad-Navico, Torqeedo Inc, UFLEX USA, Veedims, Volvo, and Yamaha who will showcase their products directly from the water on their boats. There are only a few slips still available.

“We expect the IBEX docks to be very active,” said Anne Dunbar, IBEX Show Director. “Having water access directly in front of the convention center is an incredible opportunity for IBEX exhibitors to show off their new products and technology.”

Kevin Grodzki, Mercury Marine President of Global Sales and Marketing, said, “Mercury Marine is excited about providing our customers an opportunity to experience the remarkable innovations of our newest engines and products at this year’s IBEX Show.”

Steve Drenkard, Marketing Manager, Honda Marine, added, “Honda Marine will be displaying our new iST, a Honda branded, intelligent shift and throttle system for our popular BF250 outboard engine. This in-cowl system will provide electronic shift and throttle actuation for up to four outboards within the current outboard cowling envelope for ease of use and an integrated design, allowing our customers to enjoy an enhanced experience while using their Honda outboards. We think IBEX has made an excellent decision to begin rotating the event between Louisville and Tampa. The new rotation will allow more builders to attend the show into the future.”

Mark Tracy, OEM Division Manager for Yamaha, said, “IBEX is the premiere showcase for new and innovative marine technology, and this year we couldn’t be more excited to get the word out on Yamaha’s new offerings. With the ability to do in-water demonstrations for the first time, it gives us the opportunity to truly put our products such as Helm Master – Yamaha’s integrated boat control system – through its paces and demonstrate everything this system can do.”

In addition to the On-Water Exhibits there will also be an outdoor demonstration area on a 3,300 square foot patio, as well as new Electronics Pavilion on the Show Floor, Pre-Event Super Sessions and The Connected Boat featuring the latest in electronics and system installations.
