Larson FX launches new model – 1850 DC

Little Falls, Minn (March 27, 2014) – Today, Larson Boat Group launches the next revolution of fresh water multi-species fish boats with the Larson FX 1850 DC (dual console).

Like all Larson FX series models, the new 1850DC hull is constructed using Larson’s patented VEC® Composite Technology. VEC Technology ensures a consistent hull lamination thickness throughout the boat for controlled overall boat weight. VEC manufacturing allows for consistent, repetitive processes ensuring a unitized fiberglass stringer system built with rigid, one-shot resin fusing the stringer grid to the floor system, a molded transom bracket, and even distribution of urethane foam-filled hull for maximum flotation and strength.

“We designed the hull of this boat by looking at key aspects from other multi-species fishing boats and took cues for each that we liked the best along with feedback from our Larson FX promotional team to make our hull design what it is today,” said Ron Sahr, Larson Boat Group Director of Engineering. Sahr added, “We feel this hull bottom design will become the new standard for freshwater multi-species fishing.”

The hull bottom is designed and engineered for the weekend angler but with the tournament pro and fishing guide mindset and requirements. When looking at the hull, the design and style cues immediately noticed above the water line is the flared hull side for reduced wave impact and water splash for that dry ride.

The other key hull bottom design aspects are all below the water line. When on a trailer you will notice a chine offset style line. In the water this offset, controls wave splash and increases stability with minimum wave impact. The chines on the 1850DC are tapered, wide in the stern and narrow in the bow for wave impact. The 1850DC has a huge, extended keel for back trolling efficiency. Finally, the strakes run the entire length of the hull bottom for lift and tracking at low speeds when on the fish. “All of these key hull designs are to aid the users in their efforts to be on the fish and catching fish,” offered Sahr.

With the 1850DC designed to get to the fish and fishing grounds, now it is time to fish! One’s first impression will be the enormity of the cockpit. The 1850 DC’s 8′ 6″ beam is the largest beam in the 18-foot, fiberglass fishing market. This allows the owner and all guests for easy maneuverability, plenty of cockpit storage and space to work.

The expansive 1850 DC cockpit is full of features to aid in your fishing habit including a 50″, 25-gallon insulated livewell with dual access hatches and built in recessed lip for the baitwell bucket. Add the optional recirculation and oxygenator pump for extra life. The cockpit comes standard with four seat bases to cast and catch from your desired position. Rod storage is plentiful on the new 1850 DC with four portside gunnel mounted rod holders. Additional rod storage is located in the integrated center walk-thru, hinged with a large gas shock with four dedicated rod tubes and the 6.75″ open square center section large enough to store a water-ski if you choose to spend the day skiing. There is more than ample room to store your rods and gear on the 1850.

The abundance of space found in the cockpit, continues in the 1850 DC helm design. The helm has been designed to accommodate multiple configurations based on how the owner fishes. Standard, the gauges are located right and left of a flat surface to accommodate a 5″ graph. Or, replace the standard configuration with a 10″ graph and the gauges are relocated to the right on another flat surface which too can accommodate up to a 7″ graph. Finally, add a ram mounted 10″ graph to the top of the help. The helm is protected by a tall wrap around windshield.

The 1850 DC bow has what you need to fish. Seated or standing, the bow area has a large casting platform and built-in seat base to either walk around or sit and be in total command. Bow storage stays dry employing a deep rain trough and a double gasket and easily accessed through four hatches to limit the amount of above deck gear repositioning to get to your gear below. Integrated in the 8″ height of gunnel, port and starboard, is bungee netting to keep your tools, lures and small tackle secure and easy to get to. A large, angled flat surface for up to a 10″ graph is all the way forward when using the optional trolling motor.

The 1850 DC is engineered for the avid fisherman, with fishing features aplenty, although the boat is family-friendly boat too. Optional jump seats, captain’s seats for the driver and passenger with armrest and recliner swivel feature, plus snap-in cushions that abut to the port and starboard console the bow becomes a quick and easy sun lounge area. When not fishing and want another platform to play, the option ski pylon is within reach to pull a tube, a skier or wakeboarder. “This boat serves as the ultimate crossover platform for the avid-fisherperson and family for a full day on the water,” said Sahr.

Whether Mercury, Yamaha, Evinrude or Suzuki, the 1850 DC has power options ranging from 115 to 200 horsepower. With a large 36-gallon fuel tank, the 1850 DC has the range and power to have you at the fishing grounds and back to the dock in no time.

After a successful day on the water, the standard Eagle trailer is prepped and ready to take your FX 1850 DC and catch back home.

“Our new FX 1850 DC is going to be a huge success,” says Rob Parmentier, Larson Boat Group President & CEO. “The boat is packed full of features and goodies the avid freshwater angler wants and requires in their boat and we are ready to deliver on those expectations with this new FX 1850 DC along with all our FX series models of boats.
