Yamaha announces new F175 outboard

KENNESAW, Ga.–  Yamaha Marine Group announced today the addition of the F175 outboard to its in-line four-cylinder product family. The brand new F175 joins the V MAX SHO® 150 and F200, which are based on Yamaha’s new 2.8-liter in-line four-cylinder platform. The V MAX SHO 150 and F200 are winners of the IBEX® Innovation award for 2013.

“This motor will broaden the line and be particularly valuable for all boats with transoms limited to 175 horsepower, as well as some in-shore applications,” said Ben Speciale, Yamaha Marine Group President. “The F175 is another super versatile motor, with great repower potential for a variety of boats from bay to deep V, aluminum and more.”

The new outboard not only offers the utmost in value and versatility, it packs in plenty of performance. Like its 2.8-liter siblings, its four-cylinder 16-valve dual overhead camshaft (DOHC) powerhead breathes easily and responds quickly, with a sophisticated valve train design that’s been proven by millions of hours of use.

The F175 also uses a single-throttle intake valve and Yamaha’s long-track intake tubes for easy breathing. A knock sensor allows the engine to run at peak efficiency and performance at all rpm.

With electrical output of 50 amps, the F175 provides plenty of power to keep up with today’s electronic accessories. The outboard is mechanically remote controlled for easy rigging and is compatible with Yamaha’s Command Link® gauges and hardware, as well as Y-COP® theft deterrent system. The outboard also includes Yamaha’s Variable Trolling RPM Switch (VTS®).

To help mitigate corrosion, the F175 uses Yamaha’s Phaze FiveTM paint system, which involves the electro-deposition of anti-corrosive paint on both the outside and inside passages of the engine block.

The new F175 outboard is expected to begin shipping in the second quarter of 2014.
