Consumer sentiment drops in August

After hitting a six-year high in July, consumer sentiment has retreated this month, according to the latest Thomson Reuters/University of Michigan index.

Sentiment dropped from 85.1 in July – the highest mark since July 2007 – to 80.0 in August’s preliminary reading. It’s the lowest level for the index since April’s 76.4, but still higher than all but five months since 2007.
