Two Ontario-based Top 100 dealers are joining forces, with Pride Marine Group finalizing a deal today to purchase Skyline Marina.

Pride Marine Group President Paul Nickel confirmed the deal in an interview with Boating Industry and said there were a number of factors that made Skyline an attractive acquisition.

“They have some fantastic staff and the brands are exciting as well,” Nickel said. “They’re also covering a market that we weren’t presently engaged in.”

The sale of Skyline was first reported by Boating Business.

The purchase will also strengthen Pride’s presence in the 30- to 60-foot market, where Skyline was particularly strong, Nickel said.

Pride carries the Chaparral, Chris Craft, Correct Craft, Crownline, Edgewater, Nautique and Robalo brands. Skyline’s lines include Hatteras, Meridian and Sea Ray.

Pride will be acquiring all three Skyline locations: The Orillia showroom, its Lake Simcoe marina and its Georgian Bay marina. The Orillia showroom and Lake Simcoe location open up new markets for Pride; the Georgian Bay marina will be the company’s second location there. The acquisition gives Pride 10 locations in Ontario, up from one in 2002.

Pride Marine Group was started in 1986 and has nearly 100 employees. Skyline has been in business since 1959 and currently has about 20 employees. Both companies have been fixtures on the Boating Industry Top 100 list for the past several years.
