KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Dec. 17, 2012 – Sea Ray, the world’s largest manufacturer of superior quality pleasure boats, is pleased to announce that its new and innovative 370 Venture has been named “Boat of the Year 2012” by the editors of Boating magazine.

“I’m happy to accept this award on behalf of our designers, engineers and craftsmen, who are truly the best at what they do,” said Rob Parmentier, president of Sea Ray Boats. “We have been overwhelmed by the positive reaction to our 370 Venture. To receive such attention and recognition underscores our commitment to create innovative, consistently excellent boats.”

The award was presented in the January 2013 issue of Boating magazine, on newsstands now. “Boating’s Tech Team tested more than 100 boats in 2012. In addition to performance data and commentary, Boating boat tests assess how a given boat compares to the other in the same category,” said the article announcing the award.

“Sea Ray’s 370 Venture is powered by outboards, cleverly hidden and ingeniously installed. It offers a quieter ride, more stowage and larger accommodations than similar cruisers do. It possesses better shallow water ability and diminished corrosion concerns. In short, Sea Ray’s 370 Venture represents a category of one.”

Featuring a patent-pending design, the 370 Venture is built around hidden Mercury Marine Verado® outboards, allowing notable expansion of the cockpit and cabin areas. Yet these are not the only distinguishing features. End-to-end hull windows and a molded fiberglass spoiler impart a sense of motion, style and quality — all traits of the Sea Ray DNA.

Forward, an L-shaped lounge sits opposite the helm, which itself has a doublewide seat for the captain and a companion. SmartCraft® diagnostic instruments provide real-time assessment of engine and performance data. Farther aft but still on the same level as the helm, a U-shaped bench wraps around a solid teak table that adjusts to become a sun pad (using the standard filler cushion). To starboard, there’s even more bench seating adjacent to an outdoor galley with a stainless-steel sink and faucet, refrigerator, induction stove, storage and available electric barbecue grill.

As mentioned above, powering the 370 Venture are twin 300-hp Mercury Verado four-stroke outboards housed beneath sun pads to either side of the center transom walkthrough. Access is easy: simply lift the sun pads to check the oil and fluids. The Verados offer exceptionally low noise and vibration for a quiet, smooth ride. In addition, the captain has the ability to trim the outboards to fine-tune performance. Getting the running gear out of the water also means less exposure to the elements, possibly extending the boating season and improving longevity of the propulsion system.

Taking advantage of the small footprint of the outboards, Sea Ray was able to push the engine room bulkhead as far aft as possible, creating the most stateroom space achievable in this size boat. The aft master stretches from beam-to-beam, with an angled berth of Visco elastic foam and storage beneath. The horizontal hull windows allow a flood of ambient light, and a refined interior design features bright, natural tones to enhance the airy feel. Additional appointments include a seat to port and a starboard settee.

The forward dinette area features oversized hull windows and a large wraparound settee with a folding table; the whole space converts to a V-berth with filler cushions. A storage cabinet and enclosed head lie to starboard. The latter has simulated teak flooring, a VacuFlush head, sink and pullout sprayer, medicine cabinet, vanity with storage and full-length mirror. Opposite, the interior galley comes with a solid-surface countertop, stainless-steel sink and cover, microwave, refrigerator, trash receptacle, and storage drawers and cabinets.

The 370 Venture is another exciting example of Sea Ray’s commitment to making the best performing, most pleasing, easiest-to-own boats on the water. It’s innovation in action, from a company that keeps satisfying its customers with fresh products that they can’t get anywhere else.
